It’s time for Spring flower blossoms in Paris! Can you believe it??
Spring in Paris never arrives all at once. It unfolds slowly, tree by tree, courtyard by courtyard, park by park. One week you’re walking past bare branches; the next, magnolias appear overnight like soft lanterns against the sky.
If you know where to look—and when—you can follow the Paris blooms across the whole city from early March through the beginning of June. This complete guide to spring blossoms in Paris will help you discover the best spots, the best time, and the most beautiful places to experience them.
As a professional portrait photographer, spring is one of my favorite seasons for photoshoots in Paris. Some of our favorite locations in the heart of Paris become absolutely STUNNING in the spring, especially the city’s iconic green spaces and beautiful gardens, and I just love to witness all of these changes.

What I love about Spring Flowers in Paris
One of my favorite things is bringing clients to a perfect spot bursting with cherry blossoms or magnolia or wisteria and seeing their reactions to the colorful petals. The photos always turn out radiant.
I just adore all of the seasonal colors Paris likes to wear. On sunny days, the beautiful flowers almost seem to glow throughout the city. And because each type of blossom appears at a different moment, there’s actually a surprisingly long window to catch them.
This guide walks through the 2026 bloom season month by month, including where to find each flower, what’s currently blooming, and a few of our favorite places for portraits and the best cherry blossoms in Paris.

What Is Currently Blooming in Paris (Spring 2026)
As of early March 2026, magnolia season has already begun, and some of the first blooms of the white cherry blossom trees are starting to open around the city.

One Note for 2026:
Winter has been unusually mild, which means some blooms are appearing nearly a month earlier than usual. If you’re planning a trip, this time of year may feel like spring arrived early in Paris.
Spring Flowers Blooming Right Now in Paris:
- The Magnolia behind the Medici Fountain in Jardin du Luxembourg is already in full bloom, creating one of the most beautiful spring scenes in Paris and one of the best spots to see early spring blossoms. You’ll also find the red winter camellias blooming!
- Magnolias also started blooming nearly a month early last week at Jardin du Palais Royal! They’re GORGEOUS!
- Magnolias are appearing and blooming in the gardens of Jardin des Tuileries, located near the Louvre Museum, making it a great place to enjoy blossoms while exploring the historic center of the city.
- White cherry blossom trees are already in full bloom next to La Samaritaine, just a short walk from the River Seine.
- Cherry blossoms are currently blooming on the banks of the seine near Trocadéro Gardens, one of the most popular spots to see beautiful cherry trees with views of the Eiffel Tower. The trocadéro gardens should have pink cherry blossoms soon.
- More buds are just starting to appear around Square Gabriel Pierné and Jardin des Plantes, both peaceful green spaces that are a great spot for early spring walks. Head there the 3rd-4th week of March this year to see them!
- Around Notre Dame Cathedral there are both magnolias and cherry blossoms, though the garden areas are still closed due to construction. You can still see the blooms beautifully from across the River Seine, which is honestly a perfect place for photos. The cherry blossoms should be blooming there in March
Meanwhile, most pink blossoms on the cherry trees are still in the bud phase, which means they’ll likely start opening in the next couple of weeks.
In other words: spring has officially started. I hope you’re as excited as I am!!

March: Magnolia Flower Blossoms in Paris
Magnolias are always the first real sign of spring in Paris.
They appear suddenly—large, soft petals opening on still-bare branches. Because the trees bloom before their leaves arrive, the flowers almost look sculptural against the sky.
This year, magnolias started appearing nearly a month early, thanks to the mild winter. 2026 has been so uncharacteristically warm. So even if you planned your trip for March, you’re in for a pleasant surprise and may be visiting during the best time for the first blooms.
Our Favorite Magnolia Flower Bloom Locations in Paris:
- Jardin du Luxembourg (especially near the Medici Fountain), and around the back side of the garden by the Orangerie and the Rosarie
- Jardin du Palais Royal
- Jardin des Tuileries
- Notre-Dame Cathedral (viewable from the riverbanks)

The Medici Fountain magnolia is particularly special. When it blooms, the reflection in the fountain creates a scene that feels almost painterly—one of our favorite places for portrait sessions in early spring and a truly perfect place for romantic photos.
Magnolias typically bloom for about two to three weeks, so they’re fleeting but magical.
When do Cherry Blossoms Bloom in Paris?
Next come the white cherry blossoms, which feel lighter and more delicate than the pink blossoms that follow.
These trees often bloom just as the magnolias are fading, creating a short window where you can actually see both at the same time.
One of the best current spots is beside La Samaritaine, where white cherry blossoms are already fully open.

Other places to look include:
- Trocadéro Gardens
- The Banks of the Seine
- Jardin du Luxembourg
- Jardin des Plantes
- Jardin des Tuileries
- Outside the Sanmaritaine
- Chatlet les Halles Gardens
These locations are some of the best spots in the heart of Paris to see early Paris blooms.
White cherry blossoms create some of the softest light-filled backgrounds for portraits, especially in the early morning when the petals catch the sunlight.

April: Pink Cherry Blossom Season in Paris
Pink cherry blossoms are the most anticipated spring blossoms in Paris, and for good reason.
The trees burst into clouds of soft pink blossoms, often blooming in clusters that feel almost immersive.
Right now in 2026, most pink cherry blossoms are still in the bud stage, but they’re expected to start opening within the next couple of weeks.

The best places to find them include:
- Jardin des Plantes
- Trocadéro Gardens
- Jardin du Luxembourg
- Square Gabriel Pierné
- Jardin des Tuileries
- Ile Saint Louis

Late April: Wisteria Flower Blossoms in Paris
Wisteria arrives quietly but dramatically. I think it might be one of my favorite blooms because there’s such a fairytale quality to the trailing purple blooms.
Instead of blossoms on branches, it cascades in long lavender and violet clusters down walls, gates, and garden archways.
In Paris, wisteria tends to appear toward the end of April, depending on the temperature that year.
The bloom doesn’t last long—often just two weeks—but it transforms ordinary streets into floral tunnels.
There’s a GORGEOUS corner we know in Ile Saint Louis that has wisteria and photographs so beautifully. Let us know if you’re interested in shooting there!
Because wisteria grows unpredictably from year to year, it’s one of those flowers we track closely during the season.

Early May: The Pink & Red Tree Moment
Right after wisteria fades, Paris transitions into a brief period where vibrant pink and red flowering trees appear across the city.
Flowering Trees in Paris: Late April to Early May
Horse Chestnut Trees
Horse chestnuts line many Paris streets and riverbanks, especially along areas near the River Seine. In May, they produce tall flower spikes that stand above the leaves.
Hawthorn Trees
Hawthorn trees are smaller and often found in parks and quieter garden corners throughout the city’s green spaces.

Crabapple Trees
These trees produce dense clouds of blossoms that can look similar to cherry trees but often last a little longer into spring.
They’re less famous than cherry blossoms, but they add an unexpected richness to the landscape—especially in larger parks and quieter squares.
Black Locust Tree
These trees produce hanging clusters of white flowers that smell similar to orange blossom.
fun fact:
The oldest Black Locust tree in Paris—located in Square René Viviani—is a black locust planted in 1601, and it blooms in April–May.

May – Early June: Rose Season
By May, the city shifts from tree blossoms to garden flowers.
And the star of late spring is the rose.
One of the most beautiful places to see them is the dedicated rose garden inside Jardin du Luxembourg, one of the city’s most beloved beautiful gardens.
Next to the base of the Eiffel Tower, you have stunning roses lining the quai.
Nearby, roses bloom across from Notre Dame Cathedral at Square René Viviani, where they frame one of the loveliest views of the cathedral and the River Seine.
Rose season typically lasts from mid-May through early June, creating some of the most romantic garden scenes in Paris.

Best Locations for Spring Portraits in Paris
Some locations simply photograph beautifully during blossom season.
A few of our favorites include:
- Jardin du Luxembourg
- Square Saint-Gilles – Grand-Veneur – Pauline-Roland
- Jardin des Tuileries
- Trocadéro Gardens
- Quai in front of the Eiffel Tower
- Jardin du Palais Royal

Many of these gardens are located near major landmarks like the Louvre Museum or close to a convenient metro station, making them easy to include in a spring walk through the heart of Paris.
These locations offer both blossoms and classic Paris architecture, which creates layered and dynamic images.
Spring portrait sessions often work best early in the morning, when the gardens are quiet and the light is soft.
Tips for Planning Your Blossom Experience
A few things we always tell clients:
Blooms Move quickly:
Weather can shorten or extend a bloom window by several days.
Visit early in the morning:
Not just for crowds, but for the best light and the best way to enjoy the beautiful flowers.
Don’t focus on one flower:
Because the season moves from magnolia → cherry → wisteria → roses, there’s almost always something blooming somewhere in the whole city.
