One of the most lovely parts of being a photographer is to hear afterwards what your clients thought of their experience during their session and with the photographs afterwards. I love hearing how people respond to photography. For me, I treasure the photographs of my family from “the old days” and our daily experiences now that I photograph. I realized after seeing the gorgeous photograph of my great grandmother at her wedding how important photography is in documenting your own history. In her face I see joy, love, happiness yet most of all I see my grandfathers nose, and the expression that my cousin gets when she laughs, I see my aunts eyes and my mothers laugh lines. It’s a bit of a history book of my own family in this one photograph that I cherish of her. I have another one of “Nan” years later, with her big cheekbones and her cat style glasses and I can just imagine her saying to my mom, “Look at this child, I like her. She’s a good eater.” or, “Look at that cucumber sitting on the table, now that’s a beautiful cucumber.” Silly things, silly memories, but that silliness I cherish and those memories come flooding back to me all of a sudden when I see these simple photographs.

d’une photographe est d’entendre a posteriori ce que vos clients pensent de l’expérience
durant la séance et des photos. J’adore voir comment les gens réagissent à la photographie.
Pour moi, je chéris les vielles photos de ma famille et les photos qu’on prend
actuellement. Je me suis rendue compte, après avoir vu la photo fantastique de
mon arrière-grand-mère à son mariage, l’importance de photographier pour
documenter nos propres histoires. Sur son visage on peut lire la joie, le bonheur,
l’amour, mais ce que je vois le plus dans son expression c’est le nez de mon grand-père,
et l’expression de ma cousine quand elle rit, je vois les yeux de ma tante et
les rires de ma mère. Cette photo que j’adore est un lire d’histoire à elle
toute seule. J’ai une autre photo de mon arrière-grand-mère, “Nan”, qui a été prise
bien des années plus tard, avec ses grandes pommettes et ses lunettes papillon.
Je peux imaginer qu’elle était en train de dire à ma mère, “Regarde cet enfant,
je l’aime. Elle mange bien.” Ou, “Regarde ce concombre qui reste sur la table,
ça c’est un beau concombre.” Les choses folles, les souvenirs un peu ridicules
que je chéris resurgissent comme une grande vague, tout à coup, quand je vois
ces photographies simples.

I guess in the end what I’m trying to
convey is the importance of photography and creating family heirlooms to pass
down whether it be an album or just a few printed photos. It’s the importance
of taking photos with
and of the ones you hold so close to your heart.

I see my position as a photographer as a position of honor. I’m honored to be chosen by my clients as the person to help document their life. This is why when I see the responses below, I know that I’m successful in what I’ve set out to do. Capture the moments that now will last a lifetime.

Je crois qu’en fin de compte le message
que je veux faire passer est l’importance de photographier pour créer des
héritages familiaux pour donner aux enfants et aux petits-enfants un album ou
simplement quelques tirages. C’est l’importance de prendre les photos avec ses
proches et de ses proches auxquelles on tient particulièrement.

Je trouve que ma place en tant que
photographe est une place d’honneur. Je suis reconnaissant d’être choisie par
mes clients pour documenter leurs vies. C’est la raison pour laquelle quand je
vois les réponses en dessous, je sais que j’ai réussi avec mon objectif: Saisir
les moments qui, désormais, resteront pour toujours.
